Bruins v Hurricanes Preview

Bruins v Hurricanes Preview

The Bruins are traveling to Carolina to face the Hurricanes tonight. The Canes are the definition of mediocrity. They have 4 points in 4 games, and a goal differential of -2. Despite this, the Bruins cannot look past tonight.

Last year the Bruins struggled mightily against Carolina. The game that immediately pops to mind was the first meeting of the season when the Bruins went down, and completely lost their composure. Both Horton and Lucic took stupid penalties.

Obviously, this is a different Canes team the Bruins will face tonight. They made a draft day blockbuster during the off season to acquire Jordan Staal, brother of captain, Eric Staal.

For the Bruins, they need to get out to a better start than they have in the past 3 games. They also need more offensive production from Seguin, Krejci and the 3rd line. Right now, Marchand and Lucic are tied for the team lead in goals with 2. Compare that with league leader Patrick Marleau who has 9. Obviously I don't expect that kind of production this early in the year, but still. Khudobin was first off the ice today, so expect him to start. McQuaid has a day off for personal reasons, so unfortunately we will have to watch Aaron Johnson play hockey.
